This restrictive tail is knit with a continuous strand of shiny, stretchy Patons Katrina, worked together with 1– 3 additional strands of (mostly novelty) yarn. You’ll freeform the strands you hold and drop, creating mock-intarsia blocks of contrasting or coordinating color, and dropping and adding the same color groups over blotches across rows to avoid a stripy look. You don’t need to work in yarn ends properly—the Katrina is your constant, keeping the fabric together, and the other strands can be added and released at will. Cut strands when you drop them, or you’ll end up with a giant yarn barf tangle, since you’re knitting in the round. The yarn ends add to the seaweedy effect.
