My mother just moved to Florida, so of course I felt she needed a mermaid tail blanket! There are already a lot of cool patterns out there, but I couldn’t find anything perfect for my mother to entertain the grandchildren in while sipping Starbucks. She has had a couple knee surgeries and I worried about her mobility getting in and out of the typical sack pattern that is popular. This lap blanket is not a sack, rather a blanket with a “foot pouch”. It was aimed at an older population to use with ease. This pattern is not intended for beginners; knitting in the round, knitting flat, slipped stitches, picking up stitches, stranded colorwork.
