The Skiles Cowl was developed to introduce novice knitters to three classic stitch patterns, Mobius construction, color selection, and bindoff appearance. The size (circumference) may be varied with the number of cast on stitches.

A Mobius is a mathematical shape that has only one side with one edge. The Skiles Classroom Building is home to the Georgia Tech Mathematics Department.

The model was knit in Georgia Tech colors to wear to fall football games.
