I designed a scarf for the Summer 2019 issue which used a five-row lace pattern. This meant decreases had to be made on the wrong side which was quite challenging. I thought at the time I would like to try it again on a pattern worked in the round. A few weeks later I was window shopping and saw a mannequin with thigh-high lace stockings. I’d found the project for the stitch pattern.

The finished measurements are deceptive. I intentionally worked these socks on fewer stitches than I would for socks. The lace needs to be stretched over the foot and leg to be visible. There is nothing worse than baggy lace thigh-highs! The yarn I selected for the project produced a very stretchy fabric.

All legs are different. Designer Notes will explain how to “customize” the socks for your leg.
