Skinny Ninny MK
Always on-trend: the knitted skinny scarf – simple, stylish, and super quick to make! It’s the perfect accessory to elevate any outfit and a great little project for in between. Since every part of the scarf is hand manipulated, the scarf can be done with the most basic standard knitting machine without the need for any additional accessories. So, grab your yarn, get your machine ready – and get started!
The scarf is knitted in stockinette stitch interrupted by cute, little garter-eyelet stripes. Begin and end of the scarf are worked in 2x2 ribbing for a nice visual effect. The scarf can easily be adapted in width and length by adapting the number of rows and stitches.
This scarf is worked purely with hand manipulation of the stitches. Of course, feel free to use a ribber, punch card and lace carriage, or a garter bar if at hand. But it is not needed. Actually, setting up the garter bar to reform stitches might even take longer than reforming the few stitches by hand.
This scarf is the machine knitted sister of the hand knitted Skinny Ninny. I tried to transfer the hand knitted steps as exactly as possible into machine knitting. Therefore, the eyelet stripes are done in a purl row of the garter section (section 2). Only the i-cord side edges are left out and replaced by three stocking stitches.
