Skjell means scales or shells in Norwegian, because I tried to make a very simple scale pattern using only knit and purl stitches. The sock is worked from the cuff down in the round with a simple knit/purl pattern, an eye of partridge heel flap and a round toe. This pattern would be good for an adventurous beginner.

Sizes: 1 (2)
Size 1 could be knit for a person with medium size feet, or if you want a more tight fit. Size 2 could be knit for a person with larger feet, or if you want a looser, slouchier fit.

Yarn: Selbu Spinneri Gimre Spæl, 200 m per 100 grams; DK weight, 100 (130) grams

Needles: 3.5 and 4.0 mm

Skills needed:

  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Knitting in the round
  • Knit back and forth
  • Picking up stitches
  • Decreasing stitches
