I really like shawls and I love to have something handknitted around my neck to keep me from freezing in the wintertime. I wanted to make a warm and cozy cowl that you can cover your ears and hair with, in case it gets really cold and windy. This pattern was published in 2010 in the Icelandic book Fleiri Prjónaperlur.

Skjól is a warm Icelandic word that can be translated as “shelter” and “protection”.
The pattern includes two versions of the Skjól cowl and both are a simple and a quick knits, perfect for beginners in lace knitting and chart reading. No worries, written instructions are included too.
