The inspiration for this skull hat, scarf and fingerless mitt set came to me by request of my daughter for my youngest granddaughter. She wanted something skeleton like so I was able to come up with a pattern that I, believe, resembles the skull portion of a skeleton; hence the name “Skullish Nightmare”.

Pattern is written for a small child (ages 5-8) with notes for enlarging to fit an older child. Head size 20 - 21” circumference. Hat is fleece lined for added warmth; this is optional.

Materials:

• Caron Simply Soft, medium (worsted) weight yarn, (6 oz./315 yds./170g per skein):
2 skeins - #9701 White
1 skein - #9727 Black
1 skein - #9604 Watermelon
• Size crochet hook needed for size and gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers
• ½ yd. of fleece for lining (optional)

Hook and Gauge:
Size F/5 (3.75mm) crochet hook: 5 sc & 5 rows = 1 square inch
Size G/6 (4.25mm) crochet hook: 5 sc & 4 rows = 1 square inch
Size H/8 (5.00mm) crochet hook: 6 sc & 5 rows = 1.25 square inch
Size I/9 (5.50mm) crochet hook: 6 sc & 5 rows = 1.5 square inch
