Skwaer Shawl
SKWAER SHAWL
This is the Skwaer Shawlette’s big sister. Worked in a very simple stockinette with some easy intarsia, this shawl is all about colour. Because more colours = more fun combining them! Choose a tonal palette for a sophisticated and understated look, or go wild as I did with the sample.
If you are new to intarsia, I recommend you knit the shawlette first and then tackle the shawl.
Note: This pattern includes a Colour Combo Guide to help you with choosing a nice colour combo for your shawl. This guide is also included when you buy the Skwaer Shawlette pattern.
Size
78 cm × 78 cm / 30.7 in × 30.7 in
(height × width)
Yarn
The sample Skwaer Shawl is worked in ITO Sensai in 702 Green as Outer Border Colour, 337 Lime as Inner Border Colour, and 312 Bordeaux as Center Colour.
Other combinations of colours or yarns work fine as well, as long as all yarns have the same gauge.
Gauge and needles
21 sts × 32 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) worked flat in stockinette stitch, after washing and blocking.
Gauge is somewhat crucial for this pattern. Not the exact numbers, but the relationship between them, otherwise, you won’t get a perfect square. That said, it is possible to tweak the numbers a bit by blocking, so don’t be too precious about it!
The pattern uses written instructions. All measurements in the English pattern are given in metric and imperial.
