Skwaer Shawlette
SKWAER SHAWLETTE
FREE until Monday night on the 10th of November!
If you download the pattern for free, it would help a lot if you could also add it to your favorites
This cute little handkerchief style shawlette is your perfect canvas to play with colour. Worked in a light silk/mohair blend using the intarsia technique and simple stockinette stitch, Skwaer is all about minimalism and sophistication.
This is also a great first project for intarsia beginners!
Size
46 cm × 46 cm / 18.1 in × 18.1 in
(height × width)
Yarn
The sample Skwaer is worked in ITO Sensai in 311 Enji as Border Colour and 300 Pale Blush as Center Colour. Other combinations of colours or yarns work fine as well, as long as both yarns have the same gauge.
You need about 11 g or 132 m (0.39 oz or 144 yds) of the Border Colour and about 9 g or 108 m (0.32 oz or 118 yds) of the Center Colour. With one skein of ITO Sensai in each colour, you can knit two Skwaers with reversed BC and CC. If you use a slightly thicker yarn, you might need a bit more yarn.
Gauge and needles
21 sts × 32 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) worked flat in stockinette stitch, after washing and blocking.
Gauge is somewhat crucial for this pattern. Not the exact numbers, but the relationship between them, otherwise, you won’t get a perfect square. That said, it is possible to tweak the numbers a bit by blocking, so don’t be too precious about it!
The pattern uses written instructions. All measurements in the pattern are given in metric and imperial.
