GENERAL INFORMATION:
This asymmetrical shawl is knitted from a few cast on stitches at the point to the broad edge. The shape is created with simple increases at the edges and decreases to create the spine of the shawl.
The shawl is knitted in garter stitch with two very contrasting colours and a few slipped stitches to create the patterned effect.

MATERIALS:
Recommended yarn: Malabrigo Mechita sock weight yarn, 100% merino wool, 384m / 420yds / 100 g.
MC: (coloured yarn): 384 m / 420 yds sock weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Mechita colourway Diana.
CC: (neutral): 384 m / 420 yds sock weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Mechita colourway Pearl.

Needles and notions:
3.5 mm (US 4) needles or size required to obtain gauge (main needles).
3.75 mm (US 5) - 4.0 mm (US 6) for i-cord bind off.
3.25 mm (US 3) or needles smaller than main needle, min 24 inches / 60 cm long for picking up edge sts.
Removable stitch marker, tapestry needle to sew in ends.

GAUGE:
24 sts and 48 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm in pattern, after washing and drying flat. Gauge is not too critical for this shawl, although a different gauge will affect the size and may increase yarn requirements, which may mean you ned more than one skein of each colour.

SIZE:
Wingspan 70 inches / 178 cm. Depth 18 inches / 46 cm.
