A year ago I was approached by a doctor wanting to order some preemie octopi por the hospital she was working in, so I decided to give them out for free. I asked on Instagram if anybody wanted to contribute only to cover the expense of the materials and lots of people came forward I was so overwhelmed with the response, and I’m finally able to give back!

I don’t like the typical pear shaped preemie octopi so I came up with my own design.

I hope you like them

A preemie octopus is a crochet toy designed for babies that decided to come to the world a bit early. To the premature baby, the carefully made octopus’s tentacles feel like their mother’s umbilical cord. Comforting the baby and reducing the risk of the little one pulling the medical bits and bobs they may need and potentially cause serious problems for them.

It’s important that the tentacles are short so there is no risk of tangling.

These cute octopi are also great gifts for newborn babies!
