I have fond childhood memories of searching for sweet, shy snails on rainy days!
This adorable snail fits perfectly in your hand, and can be adapted easily to be a little bigger or smaller. Variegated yarn works beautifully for his shell, but any color combinations will work.

Skill Level:

Quick and easy: Simple stitches, a medium hook and yarn and no gauge makes this a fun beginner project. Gauge is not needed for this pattern. Mistakes just add character!

Size:

About 6” long

Stitch Abbreviations:

Chain (ch)
Double crochet (dc)
Half double crochet (hdc)
Single crochet (sc)
Single crochet 2 together (sc2tog)
Slip stitch (sl)
Stitch/stitches (st)

Materials Needed:

4mm (US size G) crochet hook

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in colors of your choosing. Variegated or striped yarns work well for the shell. I used Red Heart Super Saver Stripes in Favorite Stripe for the shell above.
Polyester stuffing
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle to weave in ends and sew up
Two 8mm safety eyes (or black yarn to embroider eyes, if desired)
