This is a pattern for a cowl with hood, worked with an easy slip stitch that gives a thick texture to the garment and makes it
perfect for cold weather. The drawstring will allow you to adjust the face opening to weather conditions.

The pattern is given for two (woman) sizes: one is a tight fit, the other is a loose fit. The former will round your face and wrap your head more closely, and will also properly fit a teenager. The latter will be looser, it will however be possible to tighten the face opening by pulling the string.

This is an intermediate pattern for experienced knitters, and an engaging one for beginners.

The cowl is worked with straight needles or circular needles working back and forth, in one single piece. It then needs sewing the back of the cowl, while the back of the hood does not have a seam. The drawstring pocket also needs sewing.

Short rows are used to adjust the pace of the slip stitch honeycomb pattern used in the hood and of the reverse stockinette used for the drawstring pocket.

The pattern contains schemes and visual aid to better understand written indications, as well as indications to (not mine) video tutorial explaining some of the techniques used in the pattern.

The crochet is used for the drawstring only. Non crocheters might work an i-chord instead.

The pink-grey version in the pictures have been knitted with Azteca by Katia Yarn, while for the grey-black version Animalier by Filati Tre Sfere has been used.
