Skills needed for this pattern include knitting in the round, knit and purl stitch, decreasing, increasing, slip stitch and the Latvian braid stitch.

Be sure to wind your yarn into a center pull ball, it is important for the Latvian braid. This hat features hand dyed yarn, the slip stitch and the Latvian braid. These techniques work really well with the changing colors of Jill Draper Makes Stuff “Windham”.

The Latvia braid may be a bit challenging but well worth the effort and there are several excellent tutorials on how to do the Latvian braid, also known as the Lateral braid or the Vikkel Braid.
