I dedicate this pattern to the memory of our little Miniature Dachshund Lena, who was born October 23, 2004 and passed over the Rainbow Bridge on July 26, 2021. She was our joy, our blessing and my knitting muse. Although I originally named my shop to honor my grandmother Lena who taught me to knit when I was 4 years old, I’m rededicating it our sweet and precious little companion. She was … and will always be … much loved.

Lena’s Slippy Stripey Sweater utilizes slipped stitches combined with purl stitches to provide interest and texture to the classic stripe. The sweater is knitted flat, with the two different color yarns being carried along the side edge.

For those of you comfortable with knitting in the round on double pointed needles, you’ll find instructions for knitting the sweater flat, but joining stitches to knit the turtleneck collar in the round.

For those of you who prefer to avoid working the collar in the round, I include instructions for working the collar flat.

The pattern is written so that the sleeves are knit in the round on double pointed needles, but for those of you who shrink away in horror at the thought of doing this, don’t worry. You can easily edge the armholes with a round of simple crochet.

As with all my designs, I’m here to help my buyers. so if you have any questions as you work up the design contact me at the Email address provided on the pattern and I will reply.

Lena sends huggies and kissies to all the other adorable doggies out there!
