Color sweeps across this asymmetrical shawl, ending in gentle ripples like waves sloshing against the shore. Worked almost entirely in garter stitch, this color block project is a quick, easy introduction to intarsia knitting.
The Sloshy Shawl is worked on the bias from one tip to the opposite edge, making it possible to use up all or most of one’s yarn. It begins with a few stitches; increases every row along the top of the shawl are balanced by decreases at the bottom edge every right-side row. Increases and decreases within the intarsia sections shape the blocks of color.
Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl.
Instructions are written and include tips for resizing. Adding fringe is optional.
