YARN SUBSTITUTIONALS:

For my sloth plant hanger I used 2 skeins of Katia Washi super bulky yarn but instead of the recommended hook size 8-9 mm (US L-11) I used crochet hook size 6 (US hook J-10) for a sturdier effect.
Since the yarn “Katia Washi” is not available outside Europe You will find some substitutional yarns below:

Katia washi product specifications:
100 meters = 109.36 yards
100 gram = 3,53 ounces
Hook 8-12 millimeter = US L-11 to N/P-15
70% Polyester, 30% Viscose
10 x 10 cm = 10 stitches x 12 rows

NOTE: if you use a different thickness of yarn, keep in mind that the sizes of the eyes, the felt face and the cheeks must be adjusted.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

  • when using super bulky yarn and crochet hook 6 mm. (US J-10}
  • felt sheets in colors dark gray and white or écru
  • 2 black safety eyes 16 mm
  • fabric glue or bookbinder’s glue to stick the pieces of felt face on the head
  • thick pointed sewing needle and scissors
  • fiberfill to stuff the head
  • hole puncher or small scissors to make holes for the eyes in the felt
  • fine waterproof black marker to draw the mouth or embroider it on with a thread of black embroidery thread leftover dark gray or dark brown thick cotton yarn for the nails, with which the sloth is hung over the branch, or use pieces of flat black or dark brown shoelace of 35 cm stitch marker
