Perfect for boy or girl.

The brim is meant to fit over the ears. The fullness is gently folded over the brim in the back or on the side, and flattened against the head. This hat could be used inside-out for a different look, if the ends are woven in carefully.

Options are given for plain, ridged, or eyelet holes for a ribbon or a handmade bow. The “ribbon” used on the plum hat is actually a 2-inch wide piece of torn and frayed organza fabric.

Instructions are given for knitting the hat in six sizes:
Newborn
Larger Newborn to 3 months
3 to 6 months
6 to 12 months
Toddler
Child

Please note: The eyelet option for threading a wide ribbon through is only for the newborn size at this time, because it has been reported that the instructions are incorrect for the other sizes.

This would be cute in blue as a smurf hat, or with a huge pompom like the old timey golf tams.

This is knit “in the round” with a circular knitting needle and finished with double-pointed needles.

All of my patterns have metric equivalents with non-USA knitters in mind.

Permission is granted to make hats knitted from this pattern.
