I was inspired during the Christmas season of 2020 by all of the beautiful advent projects featured, and decided to make a collection of Fair Isle mini-stockings to hang in my home the following year, each just large enough to hold coins or small chocolates.

The idea of knitting 24 stockings in December was too daunting. So I knitted them throughout 2021. I knit 4 stockings in January, and 2 every month thereafter, and by the end of November I had all 24 stockings ready to display.

There are 12 unique designs (Stockings 1 and 13 match, Stockings 2 and 14 match, and so on).
I’ve made a large chart file for each day, one with the MC as foreground, and one with MC as background for ease of following along. For those who prefer to print less paper, there is also a file with charts for all 12 motifs and numbers 1-24.

Each day’s charts include a number side, and a fair isle motif side. You can choose to omit the number side, and knit the motif twice instead. This option would make great ornaments.

Stockings are knit in the round seamlessly. You can choose to knit them toe up or cuff down. You’ll need about 10-12 grams of light fingering weight yarn for each stocking. In all I used 300 grams of yarn: 150 grams of white, and 50 grams each of the other three colors.

Video tutorials for the tricky parts are included. The link is included in your pattern. You should already know how to knit stranded color work designs from a chart, and work small items in the round. This is an intermediate level pattern. It has been tech edited.
