This stylish sweater will fit a small pet comfortably as it grows. There is a lot of built-in stretch! The neck/collar will fit a pet with a 10” to 15” neck, and a chest/body from 11” to 19” around. The length is easy to adjust, and the pattern could be modified for width by adding stitches. This pattern was initially designed for a 12 pound yorkshire terrier of this size (yorkie size; not sweater size): Neck = 11” Chest/ribcage = 15 1/2” Top of front leg = 4 1/2” around Base of neck to tail = 14 1/2”
The faux fair isle design is created by the self-patterning yarn; however, any aran or worsted weight yarn in a solid color, stripes, or self-patterning colorway will create a snuggly sweater for your favorite little dog or cat. The front sleeves/legs can be knit with approximately 40 yards of a complimentary colorway (included in total yardage required).
The edging all around is part of the main sweater. So, the only stitches to pick up and knit are around the two front leg holes.
For ease in keeping track of the pattern, check boxes are included when more than a few rounds/rows are required.
This sweater is a fun knit, and it’s even more fun to see it modeled by the lucky pet. Enjoy the process and the product!
