The Danish Necktie Scarf Pattern, UK terms (US in brackets)
Size: Approx. 7cm wide x 120cm long
Skill level: Beginner/Intermediate
Stitches used: Crocheted Rib - Ss into BLO and decrease stitches to form the points at the ends. A row of dc (sc US)
Pattern Notes: We are going to start in the MIDDLE of the scarf, crochet up one side, decreasing down to the point of that end, then we cast off and go back to the start of our work. We cast onto the stitches of the third line (video for details) and then we make the other side of the scarf decreasing down to the point on that side. We finish off with a dc row (sc US) around the outside edge, starting in the middle of the wide part and ending there too (doing this makes the pointed ends as neat as possible)
My biggest tips for this pattern, make sure you count each row carefully, it can be fiddly to find the stitches sometimes (don’t crochet too tight, this makes stitches hide : S) so at the end of each row do a quick check before you turn. Don’t make your stitches too tight, this ribbing can be super tricky if you don’t relax your hands and let the yarn flow freely when you stitch it.
Materials:
about 50g of 4ply Yarn
6.5mm crochet hook
5mm hook for last line around work Scissors
Yarn needle for weaving in ends Stitch marker
Gauge (not critical)
7cm x 7cm of rib stitch using 6.5mm hook = approx. 12sts wide and 22 rows of ss in blo.
Notes
Worked flat in rows.
The turning chain of 1 does not count as stitch in row count.
