I used a 3.75 hook with dk yarn to get a 14 inch doll. She is posable and stand alone. There is no yardage listed because it uses very small amounts of some colors. I used yellow, light and bright blue, red, white, black, and flesh colored yarn. You will need polyfiberfil, and safety eyes. You will use a needle, hook and scissors. You will need a small amount of tape, cardboard, and hot glue. embroidery thread for the lips or you can use yarn. no gauge is needed
