I have free patterns coming this summer to celebrate the launch of my new memoir. If you want to get my EGILDA WRAP pattern for free and be alerted to new free pattern releases, SUBSCRIBE NOW!

The elves at Crypto Knits (and by elves, I mean me—I’m the only one here) really, really wanted to get this pattern out for people to enjoy while we are all still knitting up our holiday mini skein sets, so I made the executive decision (again, just me here) to release this pattern/recipe in draft form now for FREE for people who want to cast on SMALLAPALOOZA while the holidays are still in full swing.

PICKING YOUR YARN

This pattern is really more of a recipe, and your primary ingredients are your yarn. In designing this large cowl, pullover shawl, I wanted a design that would let the yarn dance and sing and blend. I was inspired by my yarn, which is the Emma’s Yarn Smallidays 2021 color collection. I have written out instructions for either a fingering weight or a DK weight pullover, but this is a draft, and I have not tested the DK version, so it will be an experiment (which is one reason this pattern is being released for FREE to everyone to start).

I ripped back twice before I found a simple technique that keeps the yarn front and center. A lot of my yarns are variegated or speckled, and I wanted a design that wouldn’t compete with the amazing sprays of color.

You don’t have to use a pre-packaged mini-skein set, but if you have one, you can just go for it. If you don’t, you can still knit this pattern from stash. Just grab Any number of mini skeins or leftovers. Line them up so they flow together from one to another, and get knitting!

DIMENSIONS

18” or 21” neck. Length: ??? TBD

SAMPLE YARN

This is totally up to you. Designed for holiday mini skein sets including 24 or 25 colors. Can be done with holiday sets, mini skeins, or even stash leftovers. Get crazy!

The sample is currently being knit in the Emma’s Yarn Smallidays Kit Super Silky (25 skeins, 81 yards each).

I am including instructions for DK as well, but the grading has not been completed for DK sets, and I have no idea how big it will end up!
