Welcome to the second pattern in the Striped Summer Shorties Collection! For a discount, buy the full ebook now!

I’ve had this idea for a while now, to make socks with stripes in hot, summer colors, with smocked stitches, to be able to give it the punny name you see above.

I just had to wait for the perfect yarn to bring my vision to life. And now they’re here!

I hope you enjoy knitting these easy smocked stitches. I have included a link to a tutorial video demonstrating how to make these stitches.

This pattern is perfect for leftovers or a sock set that includes two 20g minis.

Sizes: S (M, L) to fit 7 (8, 9)” or about 18 (20, 23) cm circumferences

Yarn:

2-color version: MC and CC, approximately 30-35g fingering weight yarn each

3-color version: 30g MC, 20g CC1, 20g CC2, fingering weight yarn

Needles: US size 1 / 2.25mm

Notions: DPN or cable needle, stitch marker, tapestry needle

Gauge: 34 stitches and 48 rows to 4” (10cm) worked in stockinette stitch in the round.

Sample socks have a 9” (23cm) long foot, to fit a US women’s size 7 foot (9.25” long).

Yarn usage amounts vary depending on the type of yarn used, knitter’s own personal gauge, as well as how long the socks need to be for their feet, but these numbers give an idea of how much yarn is used.
