This hat was designed to coordinate with the Make A Turn Scarf by Louis Boria and Gary Boston, their entry in the inaugural Knit Stars Pro-Am design competition. It incorporates the smocking stitch used in the scarf. While the yarn originally used – Loops Luxe Chunky– is listed as a chunky weight, we knit it at more of an Aran gauge, so check gauge if substituting.

100% of pattern sales will be donated to AIDS/Lifecyle (San Francisco AIDS Foundation & Los Angeles LGBT Center) for the life of this pattern.

This pattern used almost a full skein of Loops Luxe Chunky Yarn.

In the future I hope to update the pattern using another Aran weight yarn and to include additional sizes.

ERRATA NOTE: In Crown Dec Setup Row, first stitch marker should be placed after 19 stitches (b/c row before incorporates first stitch of Setup Row). The remaining two stitch markers should be placed after subsequent 20 stitches. All stitch markers should be between two knit stitches. Pattern update forthcoming to correct this error.
