Being on crutches for any length of time can be a bit of a downer. So, why not brighten up your new friends with some accessories of their own?

I designed these to mix and match & use up scrap yarn for a super quick, fun, AND functional project. The little stretch of garter stitch at the top of the covers provides a nice bit of cushion for the underarms, and they’re also stretchy enough to fit over extra padding should you need it.

But more importantly for me at least, they were a huge mood booster during recovery and made me feel super snazzy :)

Skill Level:
Advanced Beginner (cover is primarily made up of 2 color brioche rib stitch)

Yarn:
Any bulky weight yarn in 3 colors; I used worsted weight held double to achieve a bulky weight | approx 73 yd (for 1 cover) or 146 yd (for 2 covers) -- Yardage total is for 1 strand of bulky weight yarn; if using multiple strands, total is approx per 1 strand

Per 1 crutch cover:
C1 - 17 yd / 15 m (base ribbing)
C2 - 28 yd / 25 m (brioche knit stitches)
C3 - 28 yd / 25 m (brioche purl stitches)

Shown:
Various colors of Red Heart Super Saver

Needles:
US size 10.5 (6.5mm) 16” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
