I have used: Double-stranded crochet-thread # 3.
Recommended, as you achieve a stiff and sturdy fabric, perfect for cotton slippers/shoes.
My yarn is 150 g ball (5.3 oz), 435 m (476 yd)
(100 g ball (3,6 oz), 290 m (318 yd)
(50 g ball (1.8 oz), 145 m (159 yd)
WPI (Wrap per inch): 21.

Any brand for crochet thread # 3 will do fine.
E.g.: Aunt Lydia’s Crochet thread Fashion 3.

Normal yarn: DK or Worsted. Cotton, or any suitable yarn for this project, obtaining the gauge-info in the pattern.

About 150 g (5.3 oz) depending on size.

Crochet hook:
European metric 3,5 mm (US E/4), or any hook size to obtain the gauge in pattern.

US - American Crochet Terms.

Attaching out-soles to the basic slippers, have several advantages.
They protect your slippers against wear and tear, makes them sturdy and comfortable to walk and wear, it looks nice, and not least;
It turns your home slippers into street shoes!
Handmade insoles will add extra comfort and softness, and keep the slippers in shape.
Personalize the insoles with matching fabric and labels!
A very good gift-idea!
