Warm, squishy two-color brioche adds a bit of coziness to the Snow Blossom Shawl, which celebrates those first flowers that brave the snow. The asymmetrical shape starts at the narrow point and grows into a brioche rib pattern that ends with a slightly more intricate design.

Yarn Blue Sky Fibers Metalico (50% baby alpaca, 50% silk; 147 yd 134 m/ 1 ¾ oz 50 g): #1610 Opal (ecru; A) and #1615 Cinnabar (brown; B), 3 skeins each.

Needles Sizes 3 (3.25 mm) and 4 (3.5 mm): 24” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

NOTES

  • This shawl is worked back and forth in rows from the narrow end to the wide end.

  • Slip stitches purlwise with yarn in front unless specified otherwise.

  • Each slipped stitch with its companion yarnover are treated as one stitch, including when counting stitches and working decreases. When counting rows, Rows 1 (A) and 1 (B) count as one row, and Rows 2 (A) and 2 (B) count as one row.

  • Work A rows with color A and B rows with color B.

  • A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches and to make both ends of the needle available when sliding stitches back and forth.
