Mittens are one of my favourite things to knit when the weather turns cold. I love to knit myself a fresh pair before the snow falls each winter. You will be amazed by how quick and easy this colourful slip stitch tartan pattern is to work up! I hope this cheerful design keeps you warm and cozy for all those snow days. ♡

Snow Day Tartan Mitts

  • This pattern uses mosaic colourwork (slip stitch). It is basically knitting in stripes. You will only be knitting with one colour of yarn in each round, and slipping the stitches in the alternate colour.

  • This is a super speedy and relaxing type of colourwork

  • This pattern is written for three sizes … all three sizes will use the same charts and instructions but use different needle sizes to achieve the specific gauge and circumference of mitten.

GAUGE:
size 1 - gauge 23 sts = 10 cm/4” in tartan pattern after wet blocking
size 2 - gauge 21 sts = 10 cm/4” in tartan pattern after wet blocking
size 3 - gauge 19 sts = 10 cm/4” in tartan pattern after wet blocking

  • tips and tricks for mitten thumbs & wet blocking are included
