• Yarn: for example, Caron One Pound.You require two colors of yarn, one for the main background colour (B) and one contrasting colour (A).
• Terminology: all crochet terms used are U.S.
• Bottom up or in the round. You can also crochet the main part of the blanket bottom up row by row and the border in the round.
• Yarn weight: Aran (8 wpi 4-ply). Skein Weight: 16 oz. / 454 g. Yardage: 812 yd. / 742 m.
• Gauge: 13.5 stitches in 10 cm (2”) by 6.6 rows in 10 cm (2”) in dc. Using a different gauge won’t affect the design, but it will change the finish size and the amount of yarn needed.
• Hook 5 mm. Hook size needed to match the gauge.
• Yardage approx. 2750 meters of Aran weight yarn for the main background colour and 2750 m for the contrasting colour. A total of 5500 meters of yarn (8 skeins). (approx. 3000 yards for the main background colour and approx. 3000 yards for the contrasting colour. A total of 6000 yards of yarn)
• Size: 155 cm wide and 210 cm long (61 inches wide and 82 1/2 inches long).

The use of other types of yarn can greatly affect the amount of yarn needed.
