The Snowflake Hat is a stranded colour-work hat knit from the bottom-up, using one strand of fingering weight yarn held together with one strand of silk mohair. First the ribbing is worked, then the stranded colour-work portion, followed by decreases at the top. The white pompom represents a cloud from which snowflakes fall and become larger in scale. Since stranded colour-work can be less stretchy than regular stockinette stitch, it’s crucial to measure the head circumference of the intended wearer, knit a gauge swatch, and calculate which size to knit accordingly.

Needles:
You may use double pointed needles, short circular needles, or long circular needles (magic loop) to knit in-the-round. Here are the sizes you need:
2.75mm for ribbing
3.25mm for single colour stockinette
3.50mm for stranded colour-work

Yarn:
Main colour: Knitting for Olive Merino in Poppy Blue (50g) held with Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in Poppy Blue (25g)

Contrast colour: Knitting for Olive Merino in Snowflake (50g) held with Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair in Snowflake (25g)

Note: the sample was knit in size small and required 25g of MC Merino, 14g of MC mohair, 12g of CC Merino, and 5g of CC mohair. Therefore, your may need a lot less than one ball of each yarn, so sufficient amounts of leftover yarn from other projects could be used.
