“Snowflake Serenade” Mosaic afghan is a fun seasonal design for your Christmas and winter holiday decor! It is designed with a simple repeating pattern of snowflakes in a Nordic inspired design. The background and pattern colors are reversible and provide a fun half and half effect in the full blanket with the different sections.

This pattern is done in overlay mosaic style. If you are new to mosaic crochet, there are many wonderful tutorials on YouTube that can help you familiarize yourself with the technique. Any confident advanced beginner to intermediate crochet enthusiast can pick this up quickly! The basic stitches required are chain, slip stitches, single and double crochets.

This afghan is customizable to various sizes based on the number of repeats you choose. Directions for the pictured afghan are included in the pattern with specific instructions on number of repeats and stitch counts for a completed size of approximately 52”x60” when using a light worsted 4-weight yarn and a size 3.75 mm/F crochet hook.

The pattern is a downloadable PDF file containing several pages including both chart and written instructions that outline the process, as well as some links to tutorials that are very helpful to learn the overlay mosaic technique.

Between 3400-4000 yards of worsted weight yarn (approximately 1700-2000 yards of tan, and 1700-2000 of burgundy) were used. If you choose to add a border or use a different weight yarn, you can adjust yarn amount needed.
