Snowflakes by Saraphir Legind

Snowflakes

NB: You can no longer buy this snowflake collection. It has been replaced by a PDF with 12 patterns instead: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snowflake-patter...

This pattern includes instructions for making the 3 snowflakes in the pictures. I usually make them using 3-ply linen, but they can be made using any yarn - just adjust the size of the hook to your chosen yarn. I choose linen as it has a very rustic look and holds its shape well.

The pattern is written out in UK terms, but it includes a translation into US terms. It also includes photos showing the different stages of making the largest snowflake and an explanation of how to block them out.

The patterns are all available individually on my blog for free, but without the photo tutorial. Please see my Ravelry designer page for more.

The last photo shows one of the snowflakes made in 4 different yarns (clockwise from top left): Patons 4-ply 100% cotton, Linen Spirit 3-ply 100% linen, Linen Spirit 2-ply 100% linen, Coats Aida 20 100% cotton.

I have made the snowflakes for sale at markets and fairs before Christmas both as single snowflakes and in strings of three. They look very nice when hanging in a string in the window catching the winter light.
