Keep your hands warm this winter with the Snowflakes Selbu Mittens! These toasty mittens incorporate some of the beautiful designs used in Selbu and also blend stylistically with my Snowflakes Scarf and Snowflakes Hat patterns by making use of the traditional 8-pointed star (which I liken to a snowflake). If you think you might want to make all three, check out my Snowflakes Hat, Scarf and Mittens bundle, which will save you money compared with the cost of buying the patterns separately.

The mittens are one-size and designed to fit an adult womanThey are knit with a 3.25mm 32” circular needle and a 3.5mm 32” circular needle in Paintbox Yarns Simply DK (the same yarn I used for the Snowflakes Hat and Scarf). However, you could use any DK weight yarn.

The pattern assumes you are knitting in the round using the magic loop method, although you can use flexible dpns or regular dpns if you prefer. I recommend reading the sections “Anatomy of a Selbu Mitten” and “How to Read the Charts” before you start knitting.
