The Mitten Book preface:

“Hermanna Stengard has preserved for us a collection of old, wonderful knitting patterns … . unique to Gotland … collected during her research all aroud the island and were presented in her book, Gotlandsk Sticksom (The Knitting of Gotland) published in1925. Her book is no longer in print. We feel it is important to make the old patterns available once again”

There is a general discussion of the type and weight of yarn to use: single and two ply. The instructions are general for adult and child sizes. The charts are presented separately with notes about the pattern repeat and a photo of the mitten.
