This stitch pattern reminds me of pine cones dusted with freshly fallen snow, hence my choice of pattern name! Snowy Pines is a portable knitting project that will keep your interest as there is patterning on both sides of the work. It is well worth the effort, however, as a lovely and versatile headband will result.

Both the headband and the headband wrap are grafted using Kitchener stitch. Don’t let this intimidate you. Really!!

CONSTRUCTION

The headband is provisionally cast on and then worked flat. It is finished by joining the two ends with a Kitchener graft. The headband wrap is worked in the same fashion.

• Knit and purl stitches
• Increase stitches - YO
• Decrease stitches - K2TOG, SSK, P2TOG, P2TOG TBL
• Provisional cast-on
• Kitchener grafting - top to bottom

The pattern is fully charted, but also includes complete written directions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary to work this pattern.

YARN NOTES

Avoid highly variegated and/or excessively fuzzy yarn as it will obscure the delicate lace patterning.
