“Snowy Straw Socks” are inspired by the simple straw boots worn by Yukinko, the snow spirit, as she is called in Japan. They’re knitted with sock yarn held together with mohair, making them slightly thick and warm—perfect for autumn and winter. You can wear them loosely for a relaxed look, or pull them up like boots.
This pattern includes not only the Snowy Straw Socks but also leg warmers using the same stitch and a slightly modified ankle-sock version.

Work begins at the toe, with gussets added to shape the instep. The heel is shaped using German Short Rows (GSR), and the leg is patterned with a decorative stitch. The simple stitch pattern, slightly thicker yarn, and larger needles make this a quick project to finish.

“Snowy Straw Socks”は, 日本では雪ん子と呼ばれる雪の精が履く, シンプルな藁ぐつをイメージしました. ソックヤーンをモヘアと一緒に引きそろえて編むことで, やや厚みがあり温かく, 秋冬にぴったりの仕上がりです. ゆったりと履いてリラックスした雰囲気にしたり, ブーツのように引き上げて履くこともできます.
このパターンにはSnowy Straw Socksのほか, 同じステッチを使ったレッグウォーマーと少しアレンジしたショートソックスの編み方が含まれています.

つま先から編み始め, マチを編みながら甲の高さを作ります. かかとの部分はジャーマンショートロウで形作り, 脚部分に模様を編みます. シンプルな編み地, やや太めの糸, 太めの針を使っているので, 短時間で仕上げられます.
