This pattern will show you how to make a hanging basket shaped like a hungry monster. We use ours to keep kids socks from getting lost on their way to the hamper, but you can use yours for just about anything (monsters aren’t very picky).

As written, the pattern creates a basket that’s 11.5” long and 11” wide (when laid flat). But the pattern can easily be adjusted to make a larger basket if needed. If you want to make a basket with the original dimensions, be sure to check your gauge.

I made mine using worsted weight yarn held double, with a little bit of chunky yarn for the horns and teeth. You’ll also need an L hook for most of the pieces, a K hook for some embellishments, 15 mm safety eyes, and a tapestry needle. I recommend using a stitch marker to keep your place as you make the monster’s body.
