Sockcardigan
This pattern has lived in my mind for a long time.
Years ago, I owned a cardigan with a similar feeling — beautifully fitted, easy to layer, and endlessly wearable. It was machine-made, yet the rhythm of the pattern stayed with me. From a distance, this design carries that same impression, while revealing its own character up close.
The cardigan is slightly cropped, softly tailored, and designed to layer effortlessly over a dress or blouse.
It is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up and worked in the round. The sleeves are knitted separately and later joined to the body, after which the yoke is shaped using raglan decreases.
I wanted to create a cardigan that would work beautifully in sock yarn — whether you carefully curate your colour palette in advance or simply dive into your treasured leftovers and scrappy skeins.
Most of all, I hope you enjoy knitting it.
