Knitted with fingering / sock yarn, the Sofia Shawl is large but still light and airy, with alternating sections of moss stitch and eyelet mesh which provide a fantastic texture. A picot bind off creates a beautiful, delicate edging.

The pattern is written for fingering / 4-ply yarn on 3.75mm needles, but other weights could be substituted. A test has been done in DK which used approx. 750 metres of yarn.

Whilst gauge is not overly important for this shawl, if you are working to approximately 28 sts / 36 rows to 4 inches of stockingette stitch (unblocked) using the yarn weight and needles recommended then you should have enough yarn and a lovely drapey shawl!
