A “soft day” is a day in which the weather is misty and sometimes a bit foggy – almost rainy but without falling rain. It’s a day that makes everything in the world seem a bit “softer around the edges” and almost encourages turning inward toward reflection, coziness, and snuggles. I love soft days, the soft days I experienced in Wales inspired this blanket.

A simple knit-and-purl baby blanket, this pattern is meant to produce a relaxing or meditative project. It could make a good “first baby blanket” project as well. Designed to be gender neutral, it has just enough texture to be interesting. Due to its simple texture, this pattern is easily customizable. Make the blanket longer or shorter by adding or removing rows in groups of 4. Make the blanket wider or narrower by adding or removing stitches in groups of 2. To make blanket care easy for the new mother, I knit mine from 100% acrylic yarn.
