This brioche hat was designed to be a fun challenge for anyone who would like to take basic brioche knitting to the next level. Its patterning makes for interesting knitting, while still being simple enough to make for a relatively quick knit.

The overall brioche combined with a wonderfully soft blend of wool and nettle makes for a warm, squishy and very stretchy hat, fitting most adults.

This pattern includes both instructions for a plain hat in two-color brioche and instructions for a patterned hat in two-color brioche.

Yarn:
Erika Knight Wild Wool, color 705 (“brisk”, main color) and color 707 (“dawdle”, contrast color).
30 g / 51m / 56 yards each.

Tools:
• 40cm/16’’ circular needles, 4.5mm/US size 7 OR NEEDLE SIZE TO GET GAUGE.
• DPN’s in the same size as above.
• Cable needle in same size as above, or smaller.
• Tapestry needle.
• Scissors.

Gauge:
12sts = 10cm/4’’ in two-color brioche , worked in the round. Change needle size if required.

Pattern notes:
This hat is worked from the brim up and uses special increases and decreases to create the brioche patterning at the front. Though this pattern describes all techniques used, it is not a stand-alone tutorial and I recommend getting comfortable with two-color brioche before attempting this pattern. That being said, once you are familiar with the basics of two-color brioche, this hat should be a fun, relatively quick knit.
