This pattern is available for free.

A beginner-friendly crochet pattern that you can use to make blankets, scarves, pillow covers, or whatever you want! Skills needed: Slip knot, chain, double crochet.

In the included video tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a soft wave pattern using double crochet (and double crochet increases and decreases) in any size and color you want. We’ll start with the pattern and make a swatch, then talk about how to use your swatch to get the size project you want to make and how to find your pattern when you get lost in the waves.

Materials needed:

  • Yarn (see notes in blog on choosing yarn)
  • Crochet hook of appropriate size for yarn
  • Snips
  • Tapestry needle

In the photos shown, I used Loops & Threads Eco-Brights yarn in peach, yellow, aqua, green, and cobalt blue (1 skein each).
