Soleie is one of the early spring flowers. Bright yellow, straightening its little head towards the sun - I recognize my behavior in springtime. Every little moment the sun shines through I want to stretch my face towards the sky to capture some warming sunrays.
I like winter, but sometimes it feels like it never ends:) When working my Soleie top I felt a bit closer to spring and summer….

Design Rib-patterns, centered leaf-patterns, stockinette, scalloped borders, beautiful neckline with a small slit, lots of summer romance makes this top perfect for the warmer season. Waist-shaping in the back is optional.

Construction The construction is competely seamless. The ribbed hem is worked in-the-round and bottom up and followed by a mirrored leaf-pattern and rib-pattern for the front, stockinette st and a centered leaf-pattern for the back. At underarms work is divided for fronts and back to be worked separately. At shoulders fronts and back are joined by working them together using the 3-needle bind-off method. The armhole edges and neck-edge are worked in a simple crochet border (using single crochet and chains only). I am sure that you may knit the edges instead, using the icord, ribbed edges or similar.

Sizes Finished bust measurements are 30/32/34.5/36.5/38.5/40.5/42.5/44.5/47/49/51”. For a tight fit choose a size close to (or a bit below) your personal measurements

Material - A cotton DK weight is perfect for the top, but it could also be worked in silk, merino, linen, cashmere… as long as you stay true to gauge.
I used Sirdars “Cotton DK” to work the top. This wool comes in balls of 212meters/232yards. Amount needes is 3/3/3/3/4/4/4/4/4/5/5 balls of this wool.

  • Circular needles 80cm/32”: size 3mm/US2.5 for the ribbing, size 3.5mm/US4 for the main body. Straight or circular needles for the upper back and fronts. A crochet hook 2.5 - 3. Needle sizes are a suggestion only. You need to use needles to obtain gauge.
  • Removable stitch markers, stitch holders. A small button 0.8mm/0.3” across.

The pattern The pattern gives all necessary stitch-counts. All measurements are given in cm’s as well as inches. The lace-pattern is charted as well as written row-by-row.
Skills needed: average. There are no difficult tecniques involved. The crochet edge is simple and is worked in single crochet and chains only.

Errata: The body should measure 32cm/12.5” when casting off for underarms
