Evocative of sunflowers and designed in celebration of the summer solstice and long warm sunny days, Solfrid is a generously-sized crescent shawl worked in three colors and a mix of pretty lace stitches. The shawl is worked from the top down and shaped into a versatile crescent with easy garter stitch short rows; to keep things simple, the short row wraps can be left unworked, hidden within the garter texture. The lace pattern is charted and includes full row-by-row written instructions as well.

Solfrid uses three tonal skeins of fingering weight yarn worked with interesting transitions, and the color not in use can be carried along the edge for minimal finishing. For pretty sparkle and drape, the lace is beaded throughout and the bead placement is charted; however, all the beads are optional and the shawl will look just as great without them.
