Can you see the rows of people standing arm in arm? This hat is meant to be a celebration of togetherness, and people coming together to make change that benefits everyone.

This hat makes use of the “slim brim,” an alternative method of working a hat from the bottom up that I developed in order to create a band that is thin, but still stretchy.

Before you begin, you will need to understand how to identify the “back bump” (not the back loop) of your chain stitches, and how to work into the center of a stitch, as in you would in the center single crochet stitch.

Due to the nature of patterns, no returns can be made; however I am happy to provide pattern support on ravelry or facebook, so please ask if you’re stuck!

Recommended yarn: Lion Brand Heartland or similar medium weight yarn, 2 colors

Gauge: 6 st = 2” (5.1 cm) wide (measured across stripes,) 1 pattern rep (from top of stripe to top of next stripe) = 1 1/8” tall. Be sure to check your gauge at end of row 9 to verify correct sizing. A height reference is also given before the decrease begins (this hat is worked from the bottom up.)
