A slight difference in tension will have no effect on a cowl. As such, a tension swatch is unnecessary.

Most serious knitters own a special hank of yarn. Sometimes we buy it on a special trip. Sometimes the colour is just too gorgeous to ignore. Other times, the special blend of fibre is the deciding factor.

Whatever the purchase reason was, it is often difficult to find a worthy project for that one special hank of yarn. This project is the solution to the problem. This cowl is easy enough to knit in front of the TV, yet gorgeous enough to showcase that special hank of yarn.

The solo skein I chose for this project is Happy-Go-Knitty Sikkim in colour Clouds of Thunder. This light fingering yarn measures 480 m / 100 g and is a blend of 65% Merino, 20% Silk, and 15% Yak. Happy-Go-Knitty is based in New Zealand.

Requirements are given for other yarn weights as well, just in case your special solo skein is in a heavier weight than mine. Whatever the yarn weight, you only need 100 g.

Two sizes are given: (child under 12 / teen & adult).
