Solstice is a long, asymmetrical triangle shawl that is perfect for wrapping around your neck in the fall to help to keep the chill away, or for draping over your shoulders on a cool evening out. You’ll be knitting plenty of simple garter stitch in the beginning, making quick work of the first half of the shawl. This section is perfect for one of those complex yarns that you have in your stash, something moody or variegated that you know isn’t going to behave. After the garter you’ll work a few simple striped rows before switching to a textured lace that was inspired by the sunny color way. I found reminiscent of the Sun’s rays on a hot summer day. It wobbles a bit and creates a beautiful contrast to the simple garter stitch.

This one is equal parts relaxing tv knitting and attention-grabbing lace rows.
