Solstice Rays Mandala
This pattern is a sister pattern to my Solstice Rays Shawl, which was born at the Summer Solstice 2024 and published on Winter Solstice 2024. The mandalas are different sizes, to reflect the different size of the sun in the sky at the solstices.
The pattern features a sun centre, with lacy rays coming from that centre point, fanning out to then be attached to a hoop.
There are two options, either to make a Summer Solstice Rays Mandala at 60cm across, or a Winter Solstice Rays Mandala at 50cm across. Each features a different hoop attachment design. They are designed to be a pair.
All yarns featured in this pattern were created by Jody at Crochet UK - www.crochet-uk.co.uk.
Summer Solstice Rays Mandala
Christchurch 250m/66g 4ply gradient yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic)
3.5mm hook (or that to obtain gauge)
60cm hoop
Winter Solstice Rays Mandala
Looe 250m/66g 4ply gradient yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic)
3mm hook (or that to obtain gauge)
50cm hoop
You can use different yarn to what was used in this pattern, but you will likely use different yarn amounts to those stated and end up with a differently sized result and hence could need a different sized hoop for mounting.
Available in both UK and US terms.
